The invention of the modern pruning shears.
In 1945, a young visionary engineer, Félix Flisch set out to revolutionize the world of pruning tools. Armed with ambition and resourcefulness, he acquired an old watch dial factory in Les Geneveys-sur-Coffrane, a serene village in the heart of Switzerland's watch valley. His vision: to craft unparalleled pruning shears. This marked the inception of FELCO, a venture that would forever alter the landscape of horticultural tools.
A Revolutionary Product: The FELCO 2
In 1948, the FELCO 2 was launched, captivating millions worldwide with its revolutionary

Innovation and Expansion
Throughout the 1950s, FELCO continued to innovate, introducing a range of cable cutters featuring a unique and patented triangular cut. The company also expanded its
reach, establishing a vast distribution network that brought FELCO tools to
professionals across the globe. By the 1960s, significant ergonomic improvements were made, such as introducing the world’s first pruning shears
with a rotating handle which dramatically reduce the cutting force required while pruning.
Commitment to Sustainability
Sustainability has always been embedded in FELCO’s DNA and operations. Since the first tool until now, each tool is meticulously designed to last, and a full array of spare parts are available to extend the life of a tool virtually indefinitely. The factory runs on 100% certified green energy, whether through its rooftop solar power plant installed in 2015, or from hydroelectric power. Nothing in the factory goes to waste as the energy given off in the production process is used to heat the factory and offices, additionally dust and debris generated during manufacturing is recycled to be reused. FELCO tools are made from 70% recycled aluminum, and 95% recycled steel alloy. In this way, FELCO works to minimizes its impact on the environment through providing long lasting products, manufacturing responsibly while never compromising on its promise of quality.
Entering the Digital Age
In 2019, FELCO embraced the future with the introduction of smart devices and digitized
services. The FELCO Power Blade Series® electric pruning shears, equipped with connectivity features, showcased FELCO’s commitment to integrating modern technology with traditional craftsmanship.
